ATTENTION HOMEOWNERS PLEASE BE ADVISE OF THE MYRTLE BEACH CITY ORDINANCE:

By WMBF News Staff | March 26, 2020 at 3:41 PM EDT -

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – The Myrtle Beach City Council passed an ordinance at an emergency meeting Thursday that calls for hotels along the Grand Strand to stop taking new reservations for more than a month.

The meeting was called to address restrictions related to health and safety in light of the coronavirus emergency.

The emergency ordinance orders all accommodation businesses in the city of Myrtle Beach, including hotels, motels, Airbnb and campgrounds, to not accept new reservations for any period beginning prior to May 1, effective immediately. The time limit is subject to modification.

Existing reservations made for March 28 through April 30, 2020 would be canceled or rescheduled. Current reservations could not be extended, according to the order.

All those in the accommodations would have to vacate by 12 p.m. on Sunday, March 29. Those units consistently occupied since March 1, 2020, are exempt, with the stipulation being they not accept any new visitors.

Additionally, all amusements in Myrtle Beach would close by Friday, March 27, according to the emergency ordinance.

Dear Valued Homeowner,

We hope you and yours are doing well under these unprecedented conditions.

I wanted to take a moment to communicate an update on Dunes Village and Myrtle Beach:

Currently all bars and restaurants in Myrtle Beach are closed except for to-go orders.  Our restaurants are both open for to go orders only and we have been doing a fairly brisk business.

Although we have fallen off our historical pace for March revenue, our occupancy has been above average of the market for the first 3 weeks.

We are observing soft demand for the current period through the next 4 weeks.  The forecast for April remains a concern although we are optimistic that we will see a declining impact from COVID-19 before the end of the month.

We had recently placed newspaper ads in Charlotte and Greensboro as well as ads in AAA travel magazines.  We have several strategies aimed at the summer months that include E-blasts to guest history, google and various PPC marketing.   We are confident that we will confront this situation and salvage as much business with aggressive positioning and marketing as possible.

The projects list is just about complete, and the units look great:

  1. King Studio kitchen appliances
  2. Full unit paint-in process
  3. Palm Studio Showers
  4. Preventive Maintenance and Deep Clean
  5. Balcony Repair-Palmetto
  6. Water park murals
  7. Palmetto water park pavers-initial phase complete
  8. Palms new outdoor water amenity-LOOKS GREAT!

Due to the current situation our staff is at skeletal level for service and projects.   Sadly, due to the decrease in business, we have had laid off some employees but hope to bring them back very soon.

We are all hoping and praying for a rapid end to this horrible issue and wish everyone to be safe and well.

We will provide another update in the next few days or sooner if necessary.

Best,

Raymond Harter                                                                                           Jennie Nichols
